Funerals St Mark's Anglican Church

When a loved one dies, it is important that the funeral both honours the deceased and also cares for the bereaved. At St Mark's, we take this dual role very seriously. We consider it a privilege to conduct a funeral.

Arranging a Funeral

A funeral is normally arranged through the Funeral Directors you choose. Their charges include the cost of a celebrant and an organist. Tell them that you want the funeral to be held at St Mark's. They will contact us and one of the priests will meet with you to discuss the service. This can occur at the Church or, if you wish, at the Funeral Parlour's chapel. If you choose to bury your loved one, we will also conduct the graveside service.

St Mark's Ladies Guild can serve morning or afternoon tea after the service. A variety of sandwiches and slices, with tea and coffee, are provided at a cost of $5 per person.

Memorial Garden

St Mark's has a memorial garden in which ashes may be buried. The cost of this, and a plaque, is $400 for one person, $600 for a couple. (Many widows or widowers choose to pay for their own place when their spouse's ashes are buried, so that their ashes will be together.)

Planning Ahead

Some people choose to plan their own funeral in advance. This is very helpful for their family when the time comes. At St Mark's, we keep such funeral outlines on file on our computer. If you would like to plan your funeral service, call us on 5445 2060.
