While we have Sunday School during our 8.30am service for school aged children, and teaching Christian values is an important part of our Youth Group programmes, Christian Education isn’t just kids’ stuff!
At St Mark’s we encourage everyone to ask plenty of questions: about faith, about the church, about life. Whatever your questions and where ever you are on the journey of faith, you are welcome here.
One of the best ways to wrestle with important questions is in conversation with others.
Whatever our age or stage of life, there is always more to learn about the faith and its practice. At every step on the way of life there are questions about the directions we go, the decisions we make, the company we keep. Adult Christian Education is about giving us some resources to use on the faith journey, giving us wisdom and insight.
“Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke
We have many opportunities for discussion, study and learning at St Mark’s.
There are regular study groups that meet at the church and in people’s homes that are always welcoming of new members. As well we have groups that meet for a set number of weeks to work through a particular book or discussion series. From time to time we invite guests to lead us in one day or weekend seminars on particular issues or areas of interest.
From the more progressive material produced by the people at livingthequestions.com that we use on Tuesday evenings, to traditional bible studies, there will be something for you – if not we’ll start something new!
If you would like to know more about any of the study or discussion groups at St Mark’s please let us know.
